Loading volumes of export cargo shipped to ports on network owned by Russian Railways increased by 9% in January-August 2021

In January-August 2021, loading volumes on the network owned by Russian Railways and shipped to Russian seaports for export amounted to 234 million tons, 8.9% more than in the same eight-month period last year. Various cargoes totalling 96.4 million tons were delivered to the ports of Russia’s North-West region, an increase of 12.2%, 60.1 million tons to the ports of the South, up 19.2%, and 77.3 million tons to the ports in Russia’s Far East region, an increase of 5.8%.

Coal accounted for 52.4% of the total cargo traffic shipped for export, followed by oil cargo (21.9%), ferrous metals (6.7%), fertilisers (6.3%), ore (3.4%) and grain (2.4%).

Coal loading volumes shipped to ports in January-August 2021 increased by 14% to over 122.5 million tons, while iron ore export deliveries were up by 19.7% to 8 million tons, fertilisers by 10.4% to 14.7 million tons and ferrous metals by 7.2% to 15.8 million tons.
